Chairlift chairs are cool. I would love to have one (altered to be usable as a chair) in my porch. In some places, particularly mountain towns, having a chairlift chair is considered an honor, a boost to status in society.
Forty of these chairs from the dismantled 42 year old, historic Golden Eagle lift were donated by the Canyons Resort to 20 artists and and 20 corporations including Backcountry.comco, Overstock.com and Coca Cola. They were modified and auctioned for charity.
My favorite was the “Budweiser Ultimate Party Chair”. It has a cooler under the seats, cup-holders on the sides, a grill in front, 2 headrests, umbrella on top and skis at the base. There’s even a fire extinguisher and a can crusher.
These chairs don’t come cheap though. The Budweiser chair had a reserve of $12,000 and I’m guessing that the cheapest didn’t go below $1,000. Unfortunately, I found out about the auction when it was too late. It ended on December 17 at 10 pm.
