The WrapStove

The Wrapstove is a concept replacement to the conventional camping stove. It clings to your pot using magnets and heats it up to a predetermined temperature at the push of a button. Sounds great right?

There’s no doubt that it looks good but it doesn’t seem to me to be very practical. Yes you need fuel for conventional camp stoves but they’re much more energy efficient and convenient than batteries.

Speaking of batteries, I doubt that your normal AA batteries is going to be sufficient to cook even 1 meal, it’s probably not even capable of boiling a litre of water because heating takes of lot of battery power and that means you’ll need a lot of batteries and a portable of some sort.

This type of stove potentially has major issues with versatility. The WrapStove looks like it can only be used on pots of a certain size. A bigger pot requires a bigger WrapStove for cooking unlike normal camp stove which can used on pots of different sizes.

The description says that the WrapStove  takes very little space in your backpack. This might not be true because even though you’re not going to need fuel, you’re certainly going to need a lot of batteries and a charger and assuming that the WrapStove comes in one size (shown above) you’re going to need a large pot.

My verdict: It’s not going to work unless someone invents portable nuclear fission batteries or something like that.
