An igloo is tougher than the toughest 4-season tent and believe it or not, warmer too. It’s also much quieter since there’s no tent flapping and whipping in the wind. You can also build it as large or as small as you want.
Building an igloo can take a lot of time depending on the size and design but if you have the right tools, the amount of time and work can be cut down considerably.
The ICEBOX Igloo Construction Tool is a set of tools designed to make igloo building much easier. With these tools it takes less than 50% the effort required to build a quinzhee or dig a snow cave of equivalent size. Still, it takes 1 1/2 – 3 hours to build an igloo depending on snow quality and quantity so you might need to plan your time carefully.
