Blowing up an air mattress can be a lot of work especially after a long hard day backpacking in the backcountry. Something like the Aerobed PakMat comes with its own pump but the pump itself tends to add quite a lot of weight.
One good solution to the weight (and bulk) problem is the Instaflator which was invented by creative designer, Mike Miller. It only weighs 1.5 oz and only takes 1 breath to blow up an air mattress.
Any backpacker with an air mattress should have one of these because it’s very convenient and weighs almost nothing. It works with all kinds of sleeping pads, even air beds. Simple ideas like this usually works best.
The best thing about it is that it cost less than $5 so it won’t hurt your finances to try.
