Taking a Hot Shower in the Outdoors

Outdoor activities make me sweat and I don’t like going to bed with a sticky body. It’s extremely uncomfortable and can reduce the effectiveness of your sleeping bag. If you want to sleep warm, you need to at least wear clean clothes and it’s better to have shower first because the oils from your body not only decrease the effectiveness of a bag’s insulation but increase obnoxious odors.

I don’t like cold showers though. I’m not the cold shower type. When you’re in the outdoors a  hot shower may be difficult to get unless you have one of these -

It’s a Zodi Outback Gear Extreme SC Hot Shower. It heats up water in minutes and gives you 4 full minutes of hot running water with 2.5 gallons of water. Just fill in the tank with water and light up the camp stove at the bottom. The hand pump pressurizes the tank so there’s no need to lift the tank for a shower. No batteries are required.

When you’re not showering, you can use the stove to cook. It’s really a piece of multi-functional gear but it doesn’t really save you weight. At about 9 lbs, it’s not really for backpacking but no one is stopping you if you want to take it backpacking. Who know? All that weight might just be worth it. As long as you have a good source of water.
