Pizza Grill – Grilling Pizza at Camp

zagrillpizzapan

Backpacker Magazine taught me how to make pizza using a camp stove and a pan and that’s great for backpacking but for general camping where weight is not a big issue, it’s just not good enough.

For car camping I prefer using a camping oven but I’ve just recently discovered an even better way to make great tasting pizza. Grilling pizza is a great way to make pizza both at camp and home. However, making pizza on the grill usually results in odd-shaped pizzas. Not that making round pizza is important or anything but that’s how I like my pizza to look.

If you want your pizza to be round one way to do it is by using something like ZaGrill’s Pizza Pan. You can roll your dough on the pan to make it round and put on all the toppings before putting the pan on the camping grill.

What’s great about the ZaGrill Pizza Pan is that it has a double-heat shield that distributes heat evenly to crisp crust and bubble cheese without burning. That means no more hot spots, limp doughy crust or charred bottom for perfectly cooked toppings.

The pan itself is non-stick, which makes cooking and cleaning easy. You can even add wood chips to the grill for a smoky flavor. It’s close to being the perfect pizza grill (nothing’s perfect).
