Camping Cot/Tent Hybrid – Kamp-Rite Double Tent Cot

doubble-tent-cotThe Kamp-Rite Double Tent Cot is a camping cot, tent and recliner designed for two people. It supports up to 450 lbs and has a 84″ by 53″ sleeping area, enough room to 2 people to sleep comfortably. With an 11″ elevation, you don’t have to worry about crawling insects, snakes and rodents, perfect for those who don’t like sleeping on the ground. The mesh netting around the tent cot aids in ventilation and allows you to enjoy the cool night air without having to worry about mosquitoes.

The Double Tent Cot also has a newly redesigned dome top with more headroom (12″ more) so that you can sit up and play card games if you want. It also sheds rain and snow almost as well as a dome tent.

At 42 pounds, the tent cot is too heavy for backpacking. It’s also not compact enough when packed (53″ x 32″ x 7″) so it’s probably not a good idea to take it on a trip across the Appalachian Trail.

If you’re planning to get one, don’t forget the rainfly because unfortunately ‘they’ have decided that it’s an optional accessory.

Here’s the Kamp-Rite Double Tent Cot with a rainfly:
