The Primus BrewFire Gas-Powered Coffee Maker is suspiciously similar to Brunton’s BrewFire Dual Fuel Coffee Maker. Both require batteries to work, use gas cartridges for fuel and have the same steps to making coffee; fill the reservoir with cold water, add coffee of choice to the filter basket, turn knob, press a button and you’re done in 10 minutes.
In the videos below, it’s hard not to notice the similarities:
Here’s Brunton
and Primus
Brunton’s BrewFire had more bad reviews than good ones and it’s no surprise that it’s “sold out” for quite some time now with just 5 reviews on Amazon (three 1-star ratings, one 2-star rating and one odd 5-star rating).
It was a good idea but it didn’t work out for Brunton; the flame wouldn’t stay lit, build quality was poor and it breaks too easily. Maybe in some secret deal Brunton had sold the BrewFire technology to Primus but this time hopefully Primus will make a better portable coffee maker.
The Primus BrewFire will be out by Spring 2011 so we’ll have to wait until then. In the mean time, check out these camping coffee gear.
